Homemade Taco Seasoning

Homemade Taco Seasoning

Don’t you always need a spice mix and you discover you don’t have it in your cabinet? Take taco spice mix for example. I make tacos, and lots of other mexican food a lot. So what happens if I dont have taco or enchilada, or fajita, or chile spice mix in a packet on hand?? Bummer! No dinner for the fam. Uh, NO WAY! Not on my watch and not in my kitchen! I just make my own! What??

I like to make my own spice mix for tacos, bbq, italian, cajun, pumpkin etc. not only because it’s easy, and because I can control what is in it but also because I don’t have to run to the dang grocery store for Old El Paso or Taco Bell or McCormick or whatever is in the packet in the middle of cooking a meal!

I know, too much trouble right?!? Nope. It’s really not, and you probably have all of the ingredients in your cabinet right now! This Taco Seasoning Mix is so easy to throw together and because it makes quite a bit you will have it on hand the next time you need it. Just tweak the ingredients to suit your family’s specific taste.

At the bottom I have posted a handy chart from Womens Health Magazine that will give you a starting point for creating your own spice blends . Have fun with it, and if you want to make the Tex-Mex Wings recipe in one of my upcoming posts you will need taco seasoning mix. Just sayin!

  • Mix all ingredients in a small bowl
  • Store in an air tight container
